Description
A charged particle in electric and magnetic fields, Lorentz force
linear ion optics, transfer matrices
real space and phase space (emittance, Twiss formalism)
cyclotron components (magnet, acceleration electrodes, injection and extraction)
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students will
be able to distinguish between the operation principles of classical cyclotron, synchrocyclotron and isochronous cyclotron
be able to determine particle beam properties using transfer matrices.
