IBES2140 Internship (0–15 cr)

Students of JSBE can include a internship period in the elective studies of their master's degree. Students can include 5-15 ECTS credits from the training period into their degree. The basic principle is that one month in a full-time traineeship equals to 5 ECTS credits. The internship can take place in Finland or abroad, and it can be with or without salary.

You need to discuss the internship beforehand with the person responsible for traineeship matters in your Master's degree programme. It is important to discuss whether the traineeship in question can be included in your degree, and what would be a suitable time to do the traineeship in relation to your other studies. The student needs to fill in a training plan or training agreement with a representative of the training place. This plan has to be accepted by the traineeship responsible of JSBE before the training begins.The training plan should include at least the following information: student’s personal details, the starting and ending dates of the traineeship and working hours per week, details of the receiving organisation, and main tasks of the student during the traineeship. The length of the training plan is around two pages.

After the traineeship has ended, the student writes a training report and delivers it to the traineeship responsible at JSBE. The training report should include at least the following information: name of the student, name of the contact person in the training place, starting and ending dates of the training, training place (organisation) and the tasks carried out during the training. In addition, the student should reflect on the things that s/he learned during the traineeship and how the traineeship is connected to his or her studies. The length of the training report is around 3-5 pages.
