This module discusses body and gender as areas of study in ethnology and anthropology.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this module the student will
- know why body and gender are important areas of study and what are the critical
perspectives they offer to our understanding of society, individual and culture
- recognize the challenges inherent in ethnographic research on body and gender as well
as the significance of the researcher's gender, embodied subjectivity, age and ethnic
background in ethnological research and
- have a broad awareness of ethnologically-oriented researchers and research directions
related to body and gender.
