Basic lab procedures and sample handling. Muscle sample microscopy. Gene and protein expression in muscle.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student:
is familiar with muscle sample handling and basics of pipetting
learns fundamentals of cell and molecular biology research methods
learns basic principles of tissue-level protein and messenger-RNA analysis methodology
can explain sample preparation for various analysis methods
understands key omics-methodology
is able to perform key methodologies under instruction in future where required
can describe strength and weaknesses of different methods and knows methodological factors influencing results
can apply gained methodological knowledge to physical activity and exercise physiology
learns to work as a responsible member of the research team
