Content
This advanced course on critical discourse studies familiarizes students with cutting-edge ongoing research, theoretical and methodological developments in the field. The course focuses in particular on three key areas in critical discourse studies: 1) Discourse and inequality, 2) Discourse and identity, and 3) Discourse and action. Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired a thorough understanding of the current debates and topics in the field and will be able to reflect critically on ongoing research in the field of discourse studies and apply these insights in their own research.

Assessment details
Learning assignments, active participation in contact teaching (min. 80% attendance is required) and group work
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student
- understands the topical phenomena as well as questions, concepts and methods in the field of discourse studies
- can apply the latest studies in critical discourse studies in her/his own studies and as a part of her/his expertise
- knows the research in the field in her/his own research environment
- has practiced her/his own critical research skills and developed her/his problem solving skills
