MUSS2011 Master's Seminar 1 (5 cr)
Description
This course begins the research process of the Master's thesis, preparing students for independent scientific work and thesis-writing. Topics include information retrieval, source criticism, ethical principles in research, argumentation and methodological issues related to the thesis. The student will draw up a research plan, and give a formal presentation present it for peer-feedback.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will be able to
- outline the research topic of the master's thesis, formulate a research question for the thesis and draw up a viable research plan
- seek and critically evaluate academic literature for the thesis
- choose a research method and evaluate the method’s suitability for the thesis’ theoretical framework and research aims
