This course is offered through the Network for Deutsch Kooperation in der Lehre. These studies are available for the following degree students:

Description
Theories and methods from linguistics, intercultural studies and multilingualism research with a focus on (international) business, corporate, tourism and media communication and communication in institutions in the intercultural field. There is one topic per session. These include, for example, text types in corporate communication today, text grammar and social media, advertising and emotional linguistics, sustainability communication in companies, multilingualism and language and cultural mediation in the workplace from the perspective of interaction, translation and specialised languages, interculturality in German-Finnish institutions and intercultural tourism communication. Part of the course will be guest lectures from academia and business.
Learning outcomes
Students are familiar with theories and methods from applied German studies, in particular applied linguistics, interculturality and multilingualism research. They will be able to apply these in analysing selected authentic examples/corpora from the fields of (international) business, corporate, tourism and media communication and communication in institutions. They are able to analyse different forms of communication (written, oral, different media) and, if necessary, evaluate them and make recommendations for action.
