Description

Course provides the students with a taste of the basics of futures studies. The course is taught with independent online studying through video and reading materials and assignments, includes a final exam.

Learning outcomes

After completing this course, the student will understand the starting points of futures studies and is aware of the history and streams of the study field. The student also recognises and can name some of the typical methods used in futures studies. The student can recognise opportunities for practical implications of futures studies in different contexts. They can also understand the connection between ethics and futures studies and are able to reflect on the possible implications of different choices to their personal futures.

Additional information

The course is open to all. Registration is done through the Open University of Turku. Degree students of University of Turku register through Peppi. To obtain the 1 ECTS the student must complete all assignments and pass the final exam. Please note that it's not possible for degree students of TSE (B.Sc. Econ./M.Sc. Econ.) to include this course in their degree structure.
