•Basic concepts of cultural values •Culturally competent care •Impact of social, political, economic, environmental and culture on health and wellness •Health promotion in crisis work •Management of disasters and public health emergencies • Encountering clients from different culture • Coping with traumatic events

Learning outcomes

The student: • is familiar with a variety of human perceptions relating to cultural values, and is able to identify their own values • identifies the inter-relationship between social, political, economic, environmental and cultural factors on wellness and health and can understand their role at different levels of health and wellness promotion, aiming to ensure results such as reduction of health inequalities and the prevention of social exclusion • is able to identify and utilize health promotion strategies, to plan culturally sensitive social and health care for individuals and different cultures • is aware of the basics of disaster management • is aware of the his/her specific professional methods that can be used to mitigate the social and health impact of disasters.
